Khaberni - An ambulance, supposed to be a life-saving tool, turned into a tool of tragedy in the Indian city of Bangalore, after its driver lost control and sped through a red traffic light, colliding with several motorcycles stopped at the signal, resulting in the immediate death of a couple and seriously injuring others.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening, near the "Richmond Circle" roundabout in the city center, when a group of motorcycle riders were stopped waiting for the green light, before the ambulance rushed from behind and collided with them forcefully.
According to eyewitnesses, the ambulance hit three motorcycles, dragging one of them several meters before it stopped after crashing into a nearby police station.
The accident resulted in the death of a couple riding a "Dio" motorcycle, while two others were severely injured and were subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment.
Videos from the scene showed a state of chaos and panic, as bypassers rushed to try to lift the ambulance after it crashed into the police station, amid a scene where damaged motorcycles were scattered around.
The traffic police in Wilson Garden area began investigating the circumstances of the accident after surveying the collision site and gathering evidence, and the ambulance driver was detained, with a formal case registered against him to investigate his responsibilities in the incident.
