Finance Minister and Israeli Security Council member, Bezalel Smotrich, strongly opposed the reports that Israel is conducting talks with Qatar about the possibility of allowing the transfer of fighters in the Israeli Yellow Line area in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, reports in Qatar indicated that talks were taking place between Israel and Hamas, mediated by the Qatari government, aimed at allowing Hamas soldiers trapped in areas under Israeli military control to cross through humanitarian corridors to Hamas areas in northern Gaza Strip. Israel has not yet issued an official response to these reports.
According to Smotrich, the Israeli army has been searching for months for fighters from the military wing of Hamas, trapped in "pockets" in the Rafah area.
