Khaberni - Chris Wright, the U.S. Secretary of Energy, said on Sunday that President Donald Trump requested the updating of nuclear weapons.
In an interview with Fox News, the U.S. Secretary of Energy mentioned that the nuclear tests being discussed are "just system tests".
He added: "The government shutdown might delay the updating of our nuclear weapons stockpile".
Trump announced on Thursday that he ordered the Pentagon to conduct tests on nuclear weapons in response to Russian and Chinese tests.
Trump clarified to reporters that the main competitors of Washington, especially China and Russia, "seem to be conducting nuclear tests," adding, "If they are conducting tests, I think we will too".
