Khaberni - Mohammad Eslami, the Vice-President of Iran and the head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, stated that the construction of 8 new nuclear stations on the southern and northern coasts of the country in collaboration with Russia is now on the agenda.

This statement was made during a meeting between Iranian President Masoud Bazeshkian and senior nuclear industry managers on Sunday at one of the facilities of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, where he was briefed on the latest developments in the nuclear industry in the country, and the level of nuclear power production in the first unit of the Bushehr plant and the status of the construction of the second and third units there.

Eslami said that the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization has set mechanisms to accelerate the scientific research, industrial application, and commercial deployment of nuclear technologies, enabling citizens' access to nuclear energy and technology.

Eslami mentioned that a long-term roadmap for the nuclear power industry has been prepared up to the year 2041 with the participation of all experts and stakeholders.

He explained that the goal of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization is to produce 20,000 megawatts of nuclear electricity, adding: "We have prepared the financial and economic mechanisms for implementing these projects, so that they have a clear investment viability."

The head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization reminded that the first phase of the Bushehr nuclear plant came online in 2013, and said that the new agreement with Russia includes the construction of 4 stations in Bushehr and 4 stations at other locations to be determined later, adding that building stations across the country will ensure the provision of clean and sustainable energy.
