Khaberni - In a discussion session at the Arab Media Forum, specifically in a seminar about the role of art in development, Syrian artist Ayman Zaidan revealed the bitter reality that artists in the Arab Mashreq live in.
In the presence of producer Sadiq Al-Sabbah and Jordanian actor Zuhair Al-Noubani, the artist released his outcry that highlighted the bitter reality suffered by actors as they age.
Zaidan exempted Egypt from his remarks, indicating that senior artists in the countries of the Arab Mashreq often end up tragically; they are ignored, set aside, and are only assigned secondary and supporting roles.
Speaking with heartfelt anguish, Zaidan questioned: "Who decides that an artist is expired? And what viewership numbers are you talking about?" referring to the superficial standards that determine the value of artists in the current art market.
The statement aroused the interest of the audience and brought back to the forefront discussions about the appreciation of Arab artists for their role and impact on society, and the need to reconsider the policies of the art industry in the Arab Mashreq.
Zaidan said during the seminar that this is a confession he makes publicly for the first time, confirming that all the greats in our countries end tragically, in a way that does not befit their history,
