Netanyahu Congratulates the King of Morocco

Khaberni - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated the King of Morocco, King Mohammed VI, on the United Nations Security Council's decision supporting the autonomy plan for the Sahara "within the framework of Rabat's sovereignty".

Netanyahu said: "I congratulate His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the UN Security Council's ratification of a resolution supporting the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Western Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty. It is a victory for steadfast and enduring Moroccan diplomacy!"

On Friday, the Security Council announced that it had granted the Sahara "genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty, which may be the most feasible solution to the conflict ongoing for 50 years".

The Security Council voted on a resolution stating that the Sahara shall have "autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty".

It called on all parties to "engage in negotiations based on the autonomy plan first presented by Morocco to the United Nations in 2007".

In context, King Mohammed VI of Morocco said in a speech on Friday evening that they are on the verge of resolving the Sahara crisis after nearly 50 years of sacrifices.

Mohammed VI reported that they are at a pivotal stage and a critical juncture in the history of modern Morocco, with a distinction between before October 31st and after.

He declared that the time has come for a unified Morocco from Tangier to Lagouira, where no one shall infringe upon its rights and historical borders.

During his speech, he noted that the Security Council's decision outlined the principles for a final political solution to the conflict concerning the Sahara within the framework of Morocco's legitimate rights.
