Khaberni - Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Walid Al-Masri, affirmed that the upcoming phase requires municipalities to be more innovative and interact more with citizens, and to work with the spirit of one team to provide quality services that reflect the state's vision for comprehensive local development.
This was stated during Minister Al-Masri's visit today, Sunday, to the municipality of West Irbid, where he stressed the importance of enhancing the partnership between municipalities and the local community, opening up to citizens and listening to their remarks to improve the level of services provided to them.
Al-Masri explained that the cabinet recently issued a package of exemptions from accumulated municipal fines, violations, and taxes, totaling about 120 million dinars across the kingdom, emphasizing that this step reflects the government's commitment to alleviating the citizens' burdens and enhancing their ability to meet their financial obligations.
He called on the citizens to take advantage of the exemption period, considering it "a precious opportunity to rectify situations", stating that the decision represents a direct message of support to the citizens, and contributes to enabling municipalities to continue providing their services efficiently.
In preparation for the winter season, Al-Masri directed the West Irbid municipality to raise its utmost readiness by cleaning culverts and preparing rainwater drainage networks, emphasizing the need for prior coordination with the relevant entities to ensure the safety of citizens and protect infrastructure.
The minister also emphasized the importance of commercial establishments maintaining daily cleanliness of their facades and their external surroundings, explaining that cleanliness is a shared responsibility between the municipality and the local community, and any shortcomings in this aspect will be met with legal measures necessary to maintain the cleanliness of public squares and vital facilities.
In relation to the sewage project, Al-Masri directed to follow procedures according to FIDIC contracts with the contractor to ensure the situation is restored to what it was before the project implementation, he also requested contacting the Minister of Water and Irrigation to compel the contractor to expedite the repair of damages and end the suffering of citizens in areas of West Irbid municipality affected by excavation works.
During the meeting which gathered the minister with the chairman and members of the municipal committee and employees, several remarks and proposals were discussed to develop municipal work and improve the quality of services provided to the citizens, affirming their commitment to the directives of the Minister of Local Administration.
Mohammed Ali Al-Qudah, chairman of the West Irbid municipal committee, expressed the municipality's commitment to enhancing readiness for the winter season to ensure the continued efficient provision of services.
