Khaberni - UNICEF spokesperson Tice Ingram stated that more than a million children in Gaza are still in need of water and food, and that thousands of children sleep hungry every night, despite the ceasefire agreement being in effect, while 650,000 of them need to return to their schools.

Ingram clarified in a press interview today, Sunday, that the ceasefire represents "good news" because it means the cessation of the daily bombing that was killing children, but it "is not enough alone to end the hunger or ensure families have access to safe drinking water."

She added: "Families in Gaza are still struggling daily to survive, and the infrastructure that provided water and medical care to children has been severely damaged, making access to these essential services extremely difficult."

Ingram said: The volume of aid that entered the region after the start of the ceasefire has seen a slight increase in the first two weeks, but it is "still not at all sufficient," and the quantities that have arrived are still below the levels that were entering before the outbreak of the war.

The UNICEF spokesperson pointed out that thousands of children are still going to bed hungry, while others in hospitals suffer from treatable diseases, but the lack of doctors and medicine makes them suffer without treatment.
