Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II emphasized the importance of the government continuing to implement its projects in Karak governorate, monitoring their completion, and sustaining communication with the citizens.
During his meeting with notables and representatives of the sons and daughters of Karak at the Prince Faisal Sports City in the governorate on Sunday, His Majesty indicated that "good planning is always required, but what is more important is implementation on the ground."
His Majesty directed the government to work on developing tourism projects that benefit the local community, provide job opportunities for the youth, and enhance economic activity.
His Majesty instructed the government to establish a cable car project in Karak to boost tourism activity and enrich the experiences of visitors to archaeological sites.
His Majesty discussed his international tours during the past period, saying that they focused on protecting Jordan's interests and defending the issues of the nation.
His Majesty referred to the foreign work visits and their challenges, stressing that communication is important due to regional challenges, in addition to its role in opening economic opportunities for the kingdom, and added that "Jordan's voice is always heard."
His Majesty emphasized during the meeting that "a strong Jordan is able to face any danger, and with your efforts" it moves forward.
Speaking on the Palestinian issue, His Majesty stressed the kingdom's steadfast position towards the Palestinian brothers, confirming that Jordan has spared no effort to support the people in Gaza and the West Bank.
In a speech delivered by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, he confirmed that the government's approach was based on fieldwork following the directives of His Majesty in the royal decree of appointment, noting that the cabinet held its first session in Karak almost a year ago, during which there was agreement with representatives of elected bodies on the developmental vision of the governorate, as well as the projects, programs, and priorities in each sector for the current year and the coming years, which are subject to continuous monitoring to ensure their implementation.
Following His Majesty's directive regarding the Karak cable car project, the Prime Minister said the government would complete the studies associated with the project to start its implementation soon, to be an important lever for tourism in the governorate, besides its role in linking the Karak Castle with wider developmental trajectories serving the local community.
The Prime Minister added that the government has completed development works at the Qatraneh Castle archaeological site to contribute to enhancing and enriching the tourism sector in Karak, linking it with tourist routes within an integrated project to develop the castles and desert palaces.
The Prime Minister confirmed the government continues to work on several projects in Karak in vital sectors in addition to tourism, such as industry, agriculture, health, transport, and education.
The Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, Yusuf Hassan Al-Issawi, stated that a committee was formed in collaboration with the local community, following the royal visit to Karak last year, to prepare a plan to preserve Karak Castle and the old city and restore life to them, and the tourism development plan for the years 2025-2026 was approved, which includes the priority projects.
Al-Issawi reviewed the royal initiatives that were implemented in different areas of Karak since 2006 to date, totaling over 50 million dinars, focusing on the rehabilitation of buildings and vital facilities and developing infrastructure.
Al-Issawi explained that the royal initiatives in Karak served sectors of education, youth, health, social development, tourism, and the environment, in addition to productive projects that provided job opportunities for the residents of the governorate.
In his speech before His Majesty, the Governor of Karak, Dr. Qabalan Al-Sharif, said that the sons of the nation are its loyal soldiers and its strong defense, confirming that Jordan, under His Majesty's leadership, is moving steadily towards the future, and that the nation is not built by slogans but by work, devotion, and true belonging.
Speakers from the audience welcomed His Majesty's visit to the Karak governorate, highly appreciating his directives to continue modernization and development.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Karak Emarat Foundation, Engineer Samir Al-Habashneh, stated that Karak is an example of harmony and shared living among its sons, discussing political renewal and parties in Jordan, noting that the kingdom has made great strides in modernization, confirming the need for a number of main parties to be effective in public life.
The Head of the Farmers' Union of Karak Governorate, Ismat Al-Majali, spoke about the reality of agriculture there, appreciating the decision to turn the Southern Jordan Valley area into a developmental area, contributing to the improvement of the farmers' conditions, and pointing out some demands of the sector.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abdullah Al-Abbadilah praised the positive impact achieved by operating the travel complex in the governorate, the approval of government incentives and facilities in Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II Industrial City, and initiating a package of service projects.
On his part, retired Major General Falah Al-Adailah confirmed that the retired military personnel stand behind the Hashemite leadership, appreciating the attention of His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to the Arab army and security agencies and launching initiatives to serve them, and praising the decision to reactivate the national service.
Israa Al-Mahadin spoke about the evolution of women's roles in Karak and in Jordan at large, praising King Abdullah's donation to purchase 3 buildings to serve women in Karak, and highlighting the initiative of the Karak Heritage Weekly Market, which supports 70 projects for women and succeeded in attracting about 40,000 visitors in two seasons.
Speaking on behalf of the presidents of clubs in Karak Governorate, Dr. Khalaf Al-Hashoush pointed out the importance of completing the Prince Faisal Sports City in its three phases, and mentioned some demands, such as completing the winter sports complex in Ghor Al-Safi and increasing support for clubs to perform their sports, social, and cultural missions.
Dr. Makram Amarin praised His Majesty's directives to revive the old city of Karak and develop the areas of Wadi Bin Hammad and Al-Mujib, pointing to a project to renovate houses and buildings in old Karak, which constitutes a real stock of the city's identity and an economic and cultural booster.
The meeting was attended by the Director of His Majesty's Office, Engineer Alaa Al-Batayneh, and the Advisor to His Majesty the King for Tribal Affairs, Kna'an Al-Balawi.
