Khaberni - Director and producer Raafat Al-Tabakhi held a training workshop at the College of Media at Middle East University titled "Digital Cinema: From Idea to Screen with Future Technologies", where he discussed the latest technological transformations in the cinema industry and their impact on cinematic imagery and production methods.
Al-Tabakhi clarified that the significant technological advancements have not eliminated the superiority of film imagery in some contexts, stating that "the negative film" still retains a unique ability to convey visual sensation and fine details.
He pointed out that the shift toward digital production has represented a qualitative leap in the philosophy of cinematic work in terms of flexibility, cost, and speed of execution, indicating that the real revolution lies in the way of thinking and creating images, not just in the camera itself.
In response to the students' questions, Al-Tabakhi emphasized that smartphones will not replace professional cameras due to their technical limitations, adding that creativity stems from the photographer's awareness and ability to smartly utilize their tools.
On his part, the Dean of the College of Media, Dr. Ramez Abu Haseera, emphasized the importance of training workshops in connecting the academic aspect with practical application, while faculty member Professor Reina Khoury explained that the workshop is part of the practical courses plan to enhance students' technical and creative skills.
The workshop witnessed extensive interaction from students who gained firsthand experience with the latest cameras and digital cinema technologies.
