Watercraft Made in UAE

Khaberni - The "Dubai Used Boat Show 2025" events, which started the evening of the day before yesterday and end today (Sunday) at Dubai Creek Marina, featured products for boats and yachts launched for the first time, including a UAE-made watercraft and hybrid green yachts powered by electricity, solar panels, and diesel.

"Emirates Today" observed the introduction of luxury yachts manufactured from international products priced up to 30 million dirhams, and boats with prices starting from 60,000 dirhams.

The exhibition kicked off under the slogan "A Boat for Every Person", with participation from over 50 brands from around the world showcasing more than 50 yachts and boats, with a total value exceeding 200 million dirhams, reflecting Dubai's status as a major platform for innovation in the world of recreational boating, and as a leading center for used boat trade in the region. This year's event is expected to attract more than 5000 visitors.

In detail, Abdullah Ali Al Noon, Head of Special Projects at "Dubai Golf" and officer of "Via Marine" organizing the Dubai Used Boat Show, said that "the 11th edition of the exhibition witnessed boats and yachts being launched for the first time on its platforms, among them were the hybrid green yachts powered by electricity, diesel, and solar panels".

He added that "Dubai markets are witnessing gradual growth and transformation in demand for this type of green yachts, whether hybrid or powered by electricity and solar energy, in a way that aligns with the qualitative shift towards environmentally friendly green products, which also provide access to innovative modern technologies and savings in conventional fuel use".

Al Noon mentioned that "the exhibition this year also featured various innovations in the sector of used boats and yachts for the first time, including watercraft that resemble different car models in form and are made in the UAE".

He explained that Dubai has become a regional hub in the trade of used yachts and boats, supported by several factors, notably the abundance of marine marinas that provide moorings for the yachts and the development of infrastructure, facilities for the use and licensing of these yachts, along with many parking spaces related to residential complexes near water bodies. He noted that "the market for used yachts in Dubai is experiencing an annual growth of about 17%".

He pointed out that the local manufacturing shares of used boats and yachts in Dubai account for about 20% of the total traded products, with Dubai being a destination for global companies offering boat and yacht products of various categories, alongside the growth of the local industry.

He mentioned that the UAE in general accounts for about 50% of the total marine yacht marinas in the Middle East, noting that Dubai holds 22 marinas including more than 4190 yacht moorings.

On his part, the Executive Director of "OZ Marine", Izzat Ozturkman, said, “His company introduced watercraft manufactured in the UAE markets during the exhibition, with various specifications and managed as fast yachts resembling cars in various shapes and colors”, pointing out that "the watercraft are currently exported from the UAE to different global markets".

He explained that "the prices of used watercraft start from 60,000 dirhams, while new ones vary between about 100 and 200 thousand dirhams according to specifications and speeds".

The organization of the exhibition comes amidst high growth indicators achieved by Dubai in the maritime sector, where the number of maritime means registered in 2024, according to reports issued by Dubai Maritime Authority, Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, reached about 7738 maritime means, an increase of 14.4% compared to 2023, while the number of maritime crew members reached 12,226, with a growth rate of 22.8%, reflecting the confidence of investors and operators in the advanced maritime environment in the emirate, and affirming Dubai's status as a global leader in maritime innovation and sustainability.
