Khaberni - Jordan has increased its grain storage capacity to over 1.1 million tons, distributed across several storage facilities in Qatraneh, Ghabawi, Muwaqqar, and Mafraq, ensuring a strategic stockpile sufficient for up to 10 months of wheat and 8 months of barley, according to a comprehensive government plan to enhance food reserves and expand storage infrastructure across various regions of the kingdom.

The government has increased the storage capacity in Ghabawi facilities by more than 100,000 tons, reaching 450,000 tons, which enhances the kingdom's ability to face challenges associated with global supply chains and ensures the availability of basic materials and supports the kingdom's ability to cope with global fluctuations in supply chains.

According to government data from the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply's first year of operations, monitored by "the Kingdom", the government is working on implementing a grain container project in Qatraneh with a total capacity of 500,000 tons, which represents a qualitative addition to the strategic storage capabilities in the kingdom.

According to the data, the storage capacity in Mafraq containers has been increased by more than 150,000 tons, while Muwaqqar containers provide more than 420,000 tons of storage capacity.

The data confirmed that these projects enhance Jordan's ability to store wheat for 10 months and barley for 8 months, ensuring the sustainability of the availability of these essential commodities in the local market, and enhancing the kingdom's readiness for any emergency conditions or fluctuations in the global markets.

In terms of enhancing food security, the ministry has implemented direct measures to regulate supply chain operations, enhance market surveillance and price control, and continue stabilizing bread prices.
