German activist seeks asylum in America

Khaberni - German activist Naomi Seibt, known as the "anti-Greta" among Europeans, has applied for political asylum in the United States, justifying this by claiming persecution in Germany due to her political views and defense of free speech.

Seibt (25 years old) submitted her petition under Section 208 of the US Immigration and Nationality Act, which grants US authorities (Secretary of Homeland Security or the Attorney General) the right to grant asylum to any foreigner who is considered a refugee, and Seibt believes that returning to Germany "would expose her to imprisonment or physical harm."

Fox News quoted Seibt as saying, "I have now applied for asylum, which means I am waiting for the interview. Meanwhile, I am legally in the United States," adding that her current goal is to become a US citizen in the future, and she said that the United States has given her much hope, claiming that her active efforts attracted Elon Musk's attention.

"Anti-Greta"
She added, "I discovered in 2024 that I had been spied on by the German intelligence for years and at the same time, I constantly receive death threats from Antifa so I went to the German police, and they told me they can't do anything about it as long as I was not raped or killed."

According to Fox, Seibt first drew attention when she questioned climate change dogma and mass immigration policies, and was described as "anti-Greta" in reference to Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.

She told the network, "I became known internationally as the anti-Greta Thunberg in 2020." She also criticized Thunberg for using the image of an emaciated Israeli hostage to depict the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

She continued, "I was 19 years old, and I never expected to be recognized as a right-wing figure. The German media demonized me as anti-Greta, as if I was anti-Christ."

Musk Support
She added, "During the European elections in June 2024, I posted saying my name is Naomi Seibt, and I am voting for the Alternative for Germany party, and it was the first time that Musk interacted with me. He sent me a private message on X platform about the Alternative for Germany Party."

She also refers to her close relationship with the American billionaire, claiming he understands the risk in Europe and offers her support. She explained, "Over the past year, Musk has retweeted me a lot, and I have interacted personally with him in private messages about what is happening in Germany."

She continued, "Elon was afraid to go to Europe, and he knew there was a very high threat, and he confirmed this to me personally. Then I made my decision to apply for asylum myself. And he gave me his approval on that."

This step comes amid a shift in policy, under the agenda of US President Donald Trump on refugees and asylum, prioritizing applicants facing persecution based on political discourse and opposition to government censorship.

By this mandate, some Europeans who believe they are at risk for expressing dissenting opinions, particularly for reasons of free speech, may be eligible for expedited review.

Fox News considers Seibt's case to make her one of the first to be cited under this framework, especially since she claims to fear arrest or worse if she returns to Germany, saying she has been subjected to surveillance, threats, and left unprotected by state authorities for years.
