Khaberni - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh inspected today, Saturday, the electrical switchgear station in the Al-Rama area belonging to the Electricity Distribution Company in the southern Shuna area of Balqa Governorate.
Al-Kharabsheh emphasized the strategic importance of this station in enhancing the reliability of the electrical system in the southern Shuna area, noting that it forms a fundamental pillar to ensure the continuity of electrical supply for vital projects in the area, such as the Zarqa-Ma'in water pumping project, the expansion of the King Hussein Bridge, and the development of the baptism site.
During his visit, the minister emphasized the need to monitor the needs of residents and existing projects, and to ensure the continuity and quality of the electric service provided, stressing the importance of taking measures to prevent tampering with equipment and preserving the sustainability of power supply.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, Engineer Ziad Al-Saaydeh, mentioned that the inspection field tours of the electrical network sites come within the framework of the regulatory role of the commission to ensure the efficiency of the system and the continuity of the service according to the highest standards of reliability.
He confirmed that the commission gives utmost importance to enhancing the readiness of the electrical infrastructure and monitoring the operational performance on the field, ensuring the sustainability of energy supply to both citizens and vital projects alike. He also stated that the commission continues to coordinate with licensed companies to take proactive measures that improve service quality, enhance technical readiness, and provide a safe and stable operational environment that supports economic development in various regions of the kingdom.
In turn, the General Manager of the Electricity Distribution Company, Engineer Reem Hamdan, confirmed that the electrical switchgear station in Al-Rama is one of the vital projects implemented by the company, as it was installed and operated at the beginning of this year to supply about 3500 subscribers from the agricultural sectors and vital projects in the area.
Hamdan explained that the cost of establishing the station amounted to about two million dinars, noting that it is powered by the National Electricity Company to distribute it through five main feeders in the area, providing an alternative supply to part of the main feeders of the Suweimeh station that supplies the hotel area in the Dead Sea.
This project ensures the continuity of electrical supply for major vital projects in the southern Shuna area, such as the Zarqa-Ma'in water pumping project and the development of the baptism site.
Important information about the station:
