Khaberni - The Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Food and Drug Corporation, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Bdoor, announced a reduction in the prices of 97 drug categories by varying percentages ranging from 5% to 72%, as part of the ongoing government efforts and directives of Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan to alleviate economic burdens on citizens and improve their access to treatment.
Dr. Al-Bdoor explained that the list of reduced drugs included essential types widely used in treating various diseases.
Dr. Al-Bdoor affirmed that this step is part of the Ministry of Health and the Food and Drug Corporation's policy to regulate drug prices and improve their availability, ensuring accessibility at reasonable prices, and supporting national drug security, emphasizing the continuation of reviewing prices regularly in line with developments in the global markets and protecting the interest of the Jordanian citizen.
The General Director of the Food and Drug Corporation, Dr. Rana Obaidat, indicated that the price reduction included 14 types of antibiotics, 8 dermatological drugs, 8 respiratory drugs, 8 neurological drugs, 2 digestive system drugs, 2 fertility and reproductive system drugs, 25 cancer and immune system drugs, one type for the eyes, 2 drugs for glands, 5 types of pain relievers and fever reducers, 8 drugs for blood diseases, and 14 heart disease drugs.
She added that the Food and Drug Corporation will remain a safeguard for the medicine and food of Jordanians through monitoring and following up on prices and safety.
