Khaberni - Cooking experts say that using a slow cooker incorrectly can ruin meals even with the best ingredients.
Experts revealed foods that should be avoided in the slow cooker, an electrical appliance used to cook food at a low temperature for a long time, usually several hours.
The organization Which? said: "Spoiling good ingredients with an unsuitable recipe for slow cooking is not only frustrating but also a waste of time and money."
Pasta and Rice
Pasta is one of the foods that is not advisable to cook early in the slow cooker, as it will become soft and undesirable. When preparing sauces, add the pasta at the end.
As for rice, it is necessary to increase the amount of liquid to ensure its full cooking and avoid hardness.
Delicate Vegetables and Herbs
Delicate vegetables such as lettuce or spinach should be added near the end of cooking to maintain their texture and flavor. Fresh herbs are advised to be added just before serving to prevent flavor loss.
Beans
It is preferable to use canned beans instead of dried, or boil the dried ones for 10 minutes before adding them to ensure they are well-cooked and avoid hardness.
Choosing Meats
Low-fat meats may seem a healthy option, but they dry out quickly in slow cooking.
Which? recommends using fattier meats like beef cooked on low heat, or chicken thighs instead of breasts, to ensure a flavorful meal.
Experts add that browning the meat in a pan before adding it to the pot can reduce fat and enhance flavor and appearance.
