Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality has activated the new prices related to discounts on building and land tax (roofing), education tax, and sewage contribution fees within the municipality's borders, in implementation of the recent Cabinet decision in this regard.
The new discounts will appear after obtaining the electronic payment number through the electronic services of the Greater Amman Municipality, and then paying it through "E-bills."
The municipality had announced a package of financial facilitations that include discounts on building and land tax (roofing), education tax, and sewage contribution fees within the borders of the Greater Amman Municipality before the end of December 31, 2025, based on the Cabinet's decision last Wednesday.
The municipality confirmed that the decision contributes to enhancing sustainable development and establishing the principles of social solidarity, through reducing the financial burdens on citizens and encouraging them to settle their financial obligations.
The decision includes granting a discount on the building and land tax and education tax, and sewage contribution fees for the current year and previous years imposed on lands and properties within the Greater Amman Municipality's borders, by (20%) if all taxes and fees due are paid before the end of December 31, 2025.
It also includes the exemption of penalties of building and land tax (roofing) and education tax accrued in previous years by (100%) if all taxes and fees due are paid before the end of December 31 of the current year.
It also enables taxpayers to install payments of building and land tax (roofing), education tax, and sewage contribution fees until the same date.
Taxpayers who have paid the current building and land tax, education tax, and sewage contribution fees due on them during the period from January 1, 2025, until the date of this decision, will be granted the applicable discount, and it will be credited to them next year, in addition to the incentive discount.
The decision includes increasing the incentive discount to become (10%) instead of (8%) for taxpayers who comply with the payment of building and land tax (roofing) for the year 2026, if the amounts due on them are paid in the first two months of 2026.
The municipality explained that taxpayers will be granted a discount on inspection fees and revenues and compensations by (25%) if paid before the end of December 31, in addition to granting those requesting to buy road debris a discount on the prices of the debris due on them by (25%) if paid before the end of December 31, 2025.
Inspection fees and revenues and compensations and road debris will also be installment up to the end of December 31, 2025.
The municipality indicated that pursuant to the decision, property and building tenants whose properties are owned by the Amman Municipality will be exempted by (25%) from the rents due on them if they are paid before the end of December 31, 2025.
Rent and its returns will also be installment until the end of December 31, 2025.
The decisions aim to motivate citizens to settle their financial obligations and to enhance public revenues in fair ways that consider the economic circumstances of taxpayers.
