Khaberni - Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya urged students on the importance of being aware of their role in actively participating in society, preserving national achievements, and having an effective impact rather than being a burden on it, as well as to create their job opportunities and develop their skills alongside their university studies, highlighting that early awareness helps in achieving success more quickly and effectively.
Al-Faraya added that national security represents the backbone of the state's stability, and that security is the most important investment for the state even if its cost is high, pointing out that enhancing community awareness is a fundamental step in maintaining it and reducing its cost.
Al-Faraya revealed in a lecture hosted by the Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II College of Political Science and International Studies at the Jordanian University titled: "The Ministry of Interior and Jordanian National Security" about the humanitarian face of the ministry and its role in maintaining national security and enhancing the country's sovereignty, emphasizing that community cooperation with security agencies forms a strong shield to ensure stability.
The Minister of Interior discussed in the lecture attended by the vice-presidents, the dean of the college, and a group of teaching and administrative staff and students of the college, a series of issues related to the most prominent current regional challenges Jordan faces, including the nature of the region it is in and the surrounding areas whether they are stable or inflamed, noting that they pose the greatest challenge for Jordan, along with other challenges such as drug smuggling across the borders, infiltration attempts, poverty, and unemployment, all of which impact national security.
Al-Faraya explained that maintaining the cohesion of the national fabric could pose a significant challenge if there is not enough community awareness, stressing that national security is a shared responsibility between security agencies and the community, and that raising awareness about the community's interest and its individuals is the way to ensure Jordan's stability, making the national fabric a source of strength in its cohesion.
Al-Faraya began his lecture by talking about the strategy of the Ministry of Interior, which he referred to as the "sovereign ministry" concept for maintaining Jordanian national security, noting that state sovereignty encompasses three areas: borders, human status in the state, and domestic decision-making sovereignty, all of which fall under the Ministry of Interior.
He also addressed a series of tasks that the ministry is closely linked to in everything related to Jordan and in various fields whether health, economic or social, in addition to its responsibility for the security and executive apparatus in all provinces of the kingdom, as well as the nature of its work roles falling within axes; security, management, and development.
Al-Faraya highlighted in his talk the role of the Ministry of Interior in the economic affair, and launching economic initiatives that have revived the economic situation in the country, stating that decisions have been made and although they were simple, they came with positive and effective results for the country, citing the ministry's initiative on issuing travel visas that last for three years and granting Jordanian nationality through investment in Jordan, which led to 592 investors obtaining Jordanian nationality, and also allowing Syrian brethren coming from Syria and European countries to come to Jordan to meet at tourism offices, which contributed to increasing the income of these offices and generally revitalized the economic activity.
At the end of the lecture, Al-Faraya answered a series of questions and inquiries raised by the audience, closely related to the concept of security and maintaining national security, and the series of executive measures undertaken by the security agencies affiliated with the ministry towards the citizens.
The dean of the college, Dr. Mohamed Khair Ayadat, mentioned in his speech the Jordanian citizens' view of security and security agencies, and where the resilience of Jordanians, which is cherished, came from, affirming despite the long history of the Jordanian state and what it went through in terms of crises and challenges, the Jordanian state, thanks to the wisdom of its Hashemite leadership, managed to preserve itself and became an "exceptional" state amid a region inflamed with wars and political conflicts.
Ayadat emphasized that the security and military axes are the basis in forming the Jordanian state and advancing it among various other states, as they constitute; the security and military institutions are the backbone in preserving the entity of the state amid internal and external situations and changes.
