Khaberni - Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee, the 2025 Ayla International Triathlon and Duathlon Championships kicked off this morning in Ayla, organized by the Jordanian Triathlon Association, with the participation of more than 130 players from 23 countries, including world champions from Japan, Australia, France, the United States, and Jordan.
Athletes compete on a race course certified by the International Triathlon Union beginning with a 1500-meter swimming stage at Ayla Beach on the Red Sea, followed by a 40-kilometer cycling stage through the stunning bridges and lakes of the project, and concluding the competition with a 10-kilometer running race through the streets of Ayla.
Mansour Al Kabarity, the public relations manager at Ayla, said, "The championship’s launch today in Ayla reflects the fruits of collective work and fruitful cooperation among various partners to organize a world-class sporting event. Through this event, we aim to enhance Aqaba's position as a sports and tourism destination, and provide the public with the opportunity to witness competitions that combine professionalism, perseverance, and high sporting spirit. We are proud that Ayla has become a meeting point for athletes from around the world in Jordan."
Dr. Tarek Al Khayyat, president of the Jordanian Triathlon Association, said, "The continuous support from Ayla Development Company has had a significant impact on the development of triathlon sports in Jordan and the region. Thanks to its organizational capabilities and outstanding infrastructure, Ayla has become a benchmark for hosting global championships to the highest standards."
The championship witnessed a significant public turnout of sports and tourism fans in Aqaba, who followed the event amid enthusiastic celebratory atmosphere that reflects the high sporting spirit and fair competition among participants.
