Khaberni - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan rejected statements by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz supporting Israel, during a press conference between them, reminding him of the death of nearly 60,000 innocents in Gaza and Tel Aviv's ongoing war of genocide and starvation against Palestinians, wondering if Germany does not see that?
This came in a joint press conference, held on Thursday, with the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz after their meeting in the Turkish capital Ankara.
President Erdoğan emphasized during the conference the necessity to restrain Israel and put an end to the genocide and famine in Gaza.
He explained that he had exchanged views with Merz on regional and international issues, noting that Turkey has highlighted the genocide in Gaza from day one and made it a top issue on the international agenda.
He added that his country has made intense efforts to achieve a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Erdoğan said, "We must put an end to the genocide and famine in Gaza by involving the German Red Cross and the Turkish Crescent in this process."
He continued: "We conveyed our views regarding the necessity to prevent the recurrence of this tragedy and regarding the solution based on the two-state solution, which represents the key to permanent peace in the region."
He added: "We emphasized the necessity for everyone to assume their responsibilities, whether in ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of aid or in the phase of reconstruction."
- "Don't you see this in Germany?"
Erdoğan affirmed his opposition to the German Chancellor's statements supporting Israel, explaining that nearly 60,000 children, women, and elderly were killed as a result of Israeli attacks.
He continued: "Hamas does not have bombs or nuclear weapons, but all these weapons are in the hands of Israel."
He explained that Israel used these weapons, for instance, they bombed Gaza again last night with these bombs.
He added: "Don't you see this in Germany? Don't you follow these events in Germany? Israel has always sought to subdue Gaza through starvation and genocide, and continues to do so until now."
He pointed out that there are threats that prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and that the Turkish Crescent is unable to deliver food aid there. Likewise, the Red Cross faces ongoing threats.
He mentioned that his country has so far tried to deliver more than 100,000 tons of food supplies to Gaza, but it is not sufficient, emphasizing that it is necessary to continue this aid.
He added regarding the need to end the massacres and starvation: "It is a humanitarian duty that falls on all of us. I believe that Germany, Turkey, and the regional countries will play their role in this regard to put an end to the genocide there."
President Erdoğan stated that the foreign ministers, defense ministers, and the head of the intelligence service in Turkey are continuously working to prevent any potential crisis.
He added: "We are prepared for cooperation and joint action. My ministers and officials have been instructed in this regard, and they continue to coordinate with their counterparts and will continue to do so."
