Sitin in front of the Iraqi embassy in Damascus following the sentencing of a Syrian youth

Khaberni - Dozens of Syrians gathered in front of the Iraqi embassy in the Syrian capital Damascus, on Thursday, protesting against the sentencing of a Syrian youth in Iraq.

Participants raised banners demanding the cancellation of the sentence of a Syrian youth in the Iraqi city of Najaf.

Mohammed Hassan, one of the participants in the sit-in, said: "We gathered today in front of the Iraqi embassy to demand the cancellation of the sentence against young Mohammed Anka, who was sentenced to death by the Najaf court for having a picture of President Ahmed Al-Sharif on his mobile phone."

Hassan added to "German News Agency": "A delegation from the sit-in met with the chargé d'affaires at the embassy and informed us that the death sentence against the youth has been cancelled."

Participants raised banners demanding the cancellation of the sentence against young Mohammed Anka.

Social media sites witnessed campaigns demanding the cancellation of the sentence against young Anka and called on the Syrian government to intervene to cancel the sentence and release him.
