Khaberni - Published in the Official Gazette on Thursday, a revised system for the road services fee was issued, which includes designating the Harranah–Al-Omari road as a toll road.
According to the revised system, a road services fee will be collected for every vehicle that passes the toll booth located in the area between Qasir Amra and Harranah towards the Saudi border.
The ministry has set the fee rate at (850) fils for a small vehicle, and a toll amount of (2) dinars and (500) fils for freight vehicles and foreign freight vehicles.
According to the decision, exempt from payment are government and military vehicles, public security and civil defense vehicles, ambulances, official delegation vehicles, and any other vehicles designated by the minister.
The ministry confirmed that the fee will be collected through various payment methods, either in cash or via approved electronic payment methods.
The new toll road provides a shortcut of about 21 kilometers between the Al-Omari border and the capital Amman compared to the free road, meaning a significant saving in fuel consumption, where estimates indicate that the savings in fuel exceeds three times the fees imposed on the use of the road.
The Ministry of Public Works confirmed that the implementation of the alternative roads system is in line with government directions to improve the quality of infrastructure and develop the national road network to serve the commercial transport and tourism sector, enhance traffic efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions.
