Khaberni - Ayla Development Oasis celebrated World Sustainability Day in partnership with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority under the slogan “Together Towards a More Sustainable Future,” during an event held this morning at the company’s headquarters in Aqaba, attended by His Excellency Dr. Thabet Al-Nabulsi, the Commissioner of Tourism and Youth Affairs and Executive Management, Ayla Oasis employees, and a number of partners and environmental entities, aiming to enhance environmental awareness and instill the concept of sustainability as an institutional approach within Ayla.
The ceremony featured opening speeches that emphasized the company's pioneering role in developing a developmental model that combines touristic excellence with environmental preservation, and embedding sustainability values in all stages of planning, execution, and operation within Ayla.
Engineer Sahl Dudin, the Executive Director of Ayla Development Oasis, stated: "Sustainability is a core axis in our company’s vision; we strive to offer a living experience that merges the joy of the place with responsibility towards the environment and humanity. Engineer Dudin also affirmed that the company's achievements in this field are the fruit of a long path of commitment and work, noting that Ayla’s attainment of four international certifications in quality, environment, energy, and safety reflects the success of its balanced institutional approach.
The event included visual presentations highlighting Ayla's achievements for the year 2025, where the company succeeded in reducing energy consumption by 8%, decreasing water consumption by 23%, and increasing renewable energy production by 12%, a step that enhances operational efficiency and consolidates the company's responsibility towards the environment.
The sustainability department also announced the launch of sustainability awards for employees in three categories: the sustainable employee, the sustainable department, and the best idea for sustainability, aiming to foster a spirit of initiative and support positive environmental behaviors within the workplace.
Participants also engaged in signing the sustainability pledge wall, which embodies the individual and collective commitment to sustainable practices, and eco-friendly memorabilia made from recycled materials were distributed. The event concluded with a tree-planting initiative that reinforced values of participation and responsibility towards the environment.
Ayla Development confirmed that celebrating World Sustainability Day represents an important milestone in its ongoing efforts to practically apply sustainable development standards, and to enhance the status of Aqaba as a global destination that combines luxury with the preservation of nature.
