Khaberni - Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun, on Thursday, asked the Lebanese army to repel any Israeli incursion into the liberated southern territories, in defense of Lebanese territory and the safety of its citizens.

This was during a meeting where President Aoun received the army commander, General Rodolphe Hekmat Sobh, at the Baabda Palace.

General Hekmat briefed the Lebanese President on the details of the Israeli incursion into the town of Bleda and the martyrdom of the municipal worker Ibrahim Salama while performing his professional duty.

Aoun considered that this attack, which is part of a series of aggressive Israeli practices, came after a meeting of the committee overseeing the cessation of hostilities (the Mechanism) which is supposed to do more than just record incidents but also work to curb them by pressuring Israel and pushing it to adhere to last November's agreement and to stop its violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

Early Thursday morning, an employee of the Bleda municipality in Lebanon was martyred after an Israeli force intruded into the town and stormed the municipality building, according to the National News Agency.

A Lebanese security source said that the Israeli force stayed inside the town for several hours before withdrawing, then the Lebanese army and civil defense entered the municipality building and transferred the body of the martyred employee to the hospital.

During the operation, the town's residents reported hearing screams and cries for help coming from the building, while the intrusion continued until 4:00 AM, before the invading force withdrew.

The source added that several residents of Bleda blocked the main road in protest against the invasion of the municipal center and the killing of the employee.
