Kuwait Imprisonment of an expatriate for 10 years for paying a bribe to forge AIDS tests

Khaberni - The Kuwaiti Court of Appeal ruled to imprison an expatriate for 10 years with labor and execution for his act of paying a bribe of 200 dinars to expatriate employees to tamper with blood samples for AIDS and hepatitis in order to issue forged health fitness certificates.

In a similar case in February 2022, the Court of Appeal sentenced 3 expatriate employees to 10 years in prison for tampering and forging blood samples in tests for chronic diseases in exchange for bribes from expatriates in residency transactions. Meanwhile, the same court in December 2023 sentenced an accused to the same penalty for forging test results.

It is noted that the Ministries of Health and Interior, especially the departments responsible for monitoring expatriates and residency affairs investigations, discovered the onset of the incident, where the Ministry of Health received a call from the Ministry of Interior, and a re-examination was urgently conducted for 4 expatriates (comprehensive examination), which showed positive results for hepatitis viruses at a rate of 2 positive for hepatitis B virus and 2 positive for hepatitis C virus, while the chest examinations for tuberculosis were clear for all 4 expatriates.
