Khaberni - U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States would resume testing its nuclear arsenal "immediately," without providing further details.

This comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier on Wednesday said that Moscow had successfully tested an underwater drone capable of carrying nuclear warheads, in defiance of Washington's warnings.

Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social just before meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, "Due to testing programs being conducted by other countries, I have directed the Department of War to begin testing our nuclear weapons on an equal footing," indicating that the tests would resume immediately.

Putin announced on Wednesday that Russia had successfully tested a high-capacity nuclear-powered torpedo named "Poseidon," just days after announcing a successful test of a nuclear-powered cruise missile.

Putin - in statements made during his visit to injured military personnel in a Moscow hospital - explained that the test was conducted on Tuesday, and that the torpedo was "stunningly successful," noting that its power exceeded that of the Sarmat intercontinental missile, and that "there is no way to intercept it."
