Khaberni - The city of Los Angeles witnessed a high-speed dramatic chase that ended in a horrifying accident on a freeway, after an armed man threatened a woman and shot a police officer, resulting in his death before he fled on his motorcycle.
According to "New York Post", the chase started on Freeway 210, where the suspect was seen riding his bike at speeds of over 270 kilometers per hour, dangerously overtaking cars before colliding head-on with an oncoming vehicle in a shocking scene captured by cameras.
Threatening a woman with a weapon
The San Bernardino County Police stated in a press release that the incident began when their patrols responded to a report of a domestic violence incident in the Rancho Cucamonga area, where a man of Latin descent armed and threatening a woman’s life.
As the police officers were handling the report, the suspect opened fire towards them, which resulted in one officer being shot in the head. The officer was airlifted to the hospital, but he later died from his wounds.
After the shooting, the suspect fled on a motorcycle, while police patrols pursued him. The video of the chase showed the man maneuvering between cars at high speed, then momentarily releasing the handlebar to adjust his backpack before directly colliding with a police car from the Drug Enforcement Administration that was driving in front of him.
After the incident, officers rushed to the scene and provided first aid to the injured. American authorities confirmed that the suspect was still alive and receiving treatment in a local hospital, describing his condition as stable.
The District Attorney for San Bernardino, Jason Anderson, announced that his office would launch an extensive investigation into the case, affirming that the accused would face a charge of "killing an officer in the line of duty," one of the most severely punished crimes under American law.
