Khaberni - The Minister of Local Administration, Walid Al-Masri, disclosed the new city project "Omrah," clarifying that it is more of a housing security project facilitated through a partnership between the public and private sectors.
Al-Masri added in a talk on "Al-Mamlaka" on Wednesday, that the idea of the new city project arose due to state-owned land that could be utilized to provide housing in response to population growth in crowded cities (Amman, Zarqa, and Ruseifa).
Al-Masri summarized the idea of the project as developing existing lands to accommodate the population surge through the Housing and Urban Development Corporation, by finding suitable lands for people at an affordable price.
Regarding its naming as "Omrah" city, he said, the name came from the nearby Omrah short.
He explained that as the city develops and the population surge increases, it could later see development through the private sector.
