Khaberni - The Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places, Dr. Mohammad Al-Khalaileh, stated that the ministry works to support and encourage Zakat committees through the Zakat Fund and endowment programs.
He added during his sponsorship on Wednesday, the launch of the winter campaign organized by the Balqa Governorate Department of Awqaf through the main Zakat and Charity Committee of Al-Salt, "We are accustomed in Jordan to uniting through charitable work, as it is a religious and national duty, and today we are in Al-Salt to launch the winter campaign, which includes food parcels and winter clothing."
He affirmed the ministry's readiness to continuously provide support to the Al-Salt Zakat Committee by supplying them with food parcels, offering emergency assistance, scholarships for students, and house restorations.
In his turn, the director of "Balqa Awqaf," Dr. Taleb Al-Awamleh, said that the winter campaign and the distribution of good parcels are part of its humanitarian and noble social mission, emanating from the mission of the Zakat Fund, one of the charitable arms of the ministry, noting that the campaign is an extension of a blessed journey of giving and charitable work, overseen by the ministry.
In his turn, the Deputy Chairman of the Al-Salt Zakat Committee, Ahyah Arabiyat, said that the campaign includes distributing about 1500 parcels, distributing school uniforms to needy female students, and school bags across schools in Al-Salt city. It also includes providing an additional salary to the beneficiaries of the Zakat committee, distributing 400 hot meals weekly delivered to homes of the needy, as well as distributing kerosene, gas, and providing cash assistance for emergency cases, in addition to supporting needy students.
The launch of the campaign was attended by the Deputy Governor of Balqa, the Chairman of the Greater Salt Municipal Council, Ali Al-Batayneh, and the General Director of the Zakat Fund, Dr. Abdul Samirat.
