AlMaaytah Notable Decrease in Traffic Accident Fatalities

Khaberni - The Director-General of Public Security, Major General Dr. Obaidallah Al-Maaytah, confirmed that the Public Security Directorate is proceeding in developing the national traffic system through active partnerships with various related entities and institutions, in accordance with the comprehensive modernization pathway the nation is experiencing, enhancing road users' safety and preserving lives and property.

This was stated during his visit, on Wednesday, to the Traffic Management, where he met with directors of traffic departments and a number of their personnel. He conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and his pride in the efforts of the Public Security Directorate members in various units and formations, and what they offer in terms of sacrifices and devoted contributions in serving the nation and citizens.

During the visit, the Director-General of Public Security reviewed the modern systems integrated into the main operations room of the Traffic Management, capable of precise electronic monitoring of roads, which contributes to accelerating response speed, and reducing the impact of accidents, disabilities, and traffic congestions.

Major General Al-Maaytah emphasized the importance of continuing to support the traffic departments with qualified personnel and necessary technical equipment, and utilizing modern technology in the traffic work system to develop performance and enhance the efficiency of services provided to citizens.

The Director-General of Public Security stressed the necessity of joint collective action between traffic departments, in addition to working in the spirit of partnership with the citizen, to establish a culture of traffic compliance, which contributes to protecting lives and preserving national assets from human and material losses resulting from accidents. He called for enhancing the awareness and educational aspect through intensifying campaigns directed at both drivers and citizens alike.

He pointed out that the traffic indicators and statistics showed a significant decrease in the number of fatalities and injuries from accidents, in addition to a decrease in the number of serious violations committed, which confirms the success of the joint awareness and field efforts carried out by the traffic departments, directing to continue expanding the frameworks of traffic studies scientifically and methodologically to identify the reasons for this decline and build upon it, and to improve the traffic situation.

Major General Al-Maaytah praised the "Safe Winter" campaign recently launched by the directorate, which aims not so much to issue penalties as to serve as a link to alert drivers to some mistakes and deficiencies in their vehicles to address them before the winter season.

Calling for doubling the field efforts during the annual winter campaign for vehicle inspections, which will commence on the first of November, to ensure the technical readiness of vehicles for safe travel on roads during the winter season, and thus contribute to reducing accidents.

The Director-General of Public Security listened to briefings presented by traffic department directors about the most prominent field and awareness plans aimed at enhancing the level of traffic services provided to citizens and improving them.

At the end of the visit, Major General Al-Maaytah reviewed several technical and technical equipment and machinery recently integrated into the work system, which are intended to enhance field and operational capabilities, and provide a safer and smoother traffic environment.
