Khaberni - Minister of Transport Nidal Al-Qatamin discussed with a number of representatives of the relevant entities and those working in the maritime transport sector, the challenges facing the national maritime lines sector.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Transport on Wednesday, this meeting is part of the ongoing efforts made by the ministry to enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian maritime transport and support the sustainability of national companies and enable them to keep up with the rapid developments in the transport and logistics services at both regional and international levels.
The attendees discussed a number of proposals and practical solutions aimed at improving the reality of the national maritime lines and enhancing their ability to provide competitive and safe maritime transport services, in line with the internationally accepted standards in this field.
Al-Qatamin said that the ministry is keen to develop a comprehensive executive plan in cooperation with the relevant partners to address existing challenges and provide necessary support for the national maritime lines, emphasizing the importance of the role these lines play in supporting maritime trade movement and enhancing national exports and imports.
He pointed out that the development of the maritime transport sector represents a fundamental pillar within the economic modernization vision, due to its importance in enhancing Jordan's position as a regional logistics hub that facilitates the movement of goods and services through Jordanian ports, especially the Port of Aqaba, which is the kingdom's maritime gateway to the world.
The meeting was attended by the General Manager of the Jordanian National Maritime Lines Company, Ahmed Armoush, the company's representative Hani Al-Tarawneh, the President of the Jordanian Academy of Maritime Studies Mustafa Musad, member of the Jordan Navigation Syndicate Captain Waheed Abu Ajamia, representative of Salam International Company Mahmoud Al-Rifai, representative of Petra Maritime Lines Company Mohammed Abdel Hadi, and representative of Arab Ship Management Company Captain Mohammed Ayesh Al-Shahadeh.
