How will Jafar Hassan Solve the Amman Crisis

Khaberni - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan stated that the government and Amman Secretariat's plan to address the crises and congestion issues in Amman focuses on implementing qualitative projects in the transport sector to serve the citizens and avoid traffic jams, which pose a challenge for Amman residents and visitors. This includes expanding the services of the Bus Rapid Transit system, which recently extended to Madaba governorate, and will reach Salt later this year, in addition to increasing the number of buses operating on the Amman-Madaba route, transporting approximately 1,300 citizens daily, and has benefitted over 150,000 citizens since its operation six months ago.
The Prime Minister noted that studies are currently being completed and partnerships with investors are being established for the construction of an overhead bridge between the north and south of Amman, specifically between Sweileh and Naour Bridge, affirming that this project not only addresses traffic congestion on the Airport Road and King Abdullah II Road (Medical City), but also provides a fast alternative solution that ensures the flow of traffic between the north and south of the kingdom without the need to enter the center of the capital and pressure on the current main roads.
He pointed out that this bridge also includes a lane for Bus Rapid Transit to serve the citizens, among other steps that will be implemented to develop the public transport system, and it will be executed in partnership with the private sector as an investment project.
Additionally, the Prime Minister mentioned that the government is currently conducting studies to use the infrastructure of the Hejaz Railway Line in the extended route from Zarqa to Rusaifa and Jiza, to operate a light rail between Amman and Zarqa as a first stage and later to Queen Alia International Airport as part of an integrated framework with the Bus Rapid Transit line, noting that the government aims to complete this project and operate it by the year 2030, especially as several parties have expressed interest in this project and feasibility studies have commenced.
The Prime Minister also confirmed that work will be carried out to open the Amman Civil Airport in Marka next month, after a pause lasting for years; which will enhance economic and tourism opportunities for Amman and the kingdom in general.
Regarding the service projects included in the developmental vision for the capital province, the Prime Minister mentioned that they involve establishing water sector projects in all areas of Amman totaling about 300 million Jordanian dinars to be completed within three years, alongside the ongoing procedures to implement the national water carrier project, essential and crucial for the future of Jordan and its water security. This project is proceeding at an excellent pace, and we strive to finalize the financial closure within the next few months to begin implementation, confirming that preliminary work on the project has started months ago.
