Khaberni - The Director of the Postal Regulation Unit at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Sahem Tarawneh, on Wednesday said that about 182 postal operators are working on providing services within the borders of Jordan, in addition to 14 private international category postal operators who work on providing services from and to Jordan.
He added, on the sidelines of the Authority’s celebration of World Post Day at its headquarters, that postal companies are a driving force in the e-commerce market, where citizens can order goods and have them delivered right to their doorstep.
Tarawneh pointed out that the postal sector is experiencing development and growth both locally and globally, and contributes to providing jobs for Jordanian youth.
He emphasized that the Authority continuously works on monitoring the postal sector affairs, listening to them, and addressing their needs.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority officially launched the "Postal Pioneers" initiative on Wednesday, during a celebration held at the Authority’s headquarters to celebrate World Post Day.
Lara Al-Khatib, the Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, said during the celebration: "The mail is a partner in modern life, and on a national level, the post has been a partner and has gone through pivotal stages reaching the prosperous era under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II."
Al-Khatib announced the launch of the "Postal Pioneers" initiative, targeting university students through three main programs.
