Caris Bashar Reducing Syria to One Color is a Danger to National Unity

Khaberni - Following a wave of criticism that targeted actress Shkran Mortaja and her guest, director Saif Sbei during the second episode of her show "Oh La La" on the Syrian channel "Al-T TV" last week, her colleague Caris Bashar defended her.
"Do not care"

Bashar confirmed that Mortaja did nothing wrong, and believed that her colleague had merely expressed her opinion in a stage where Syria has become a state for all Syrians and everyone has the right to speak and express their opinions with respect for different viewpoints.

She also sent a message to Shkran in the Syrian dialect: "Do not care".

Bashar emphasized that Shkran did no wrong and was not involved in any wrongdoing, noting that she stays away from social media due to the amount of evil it contains, expressing her dissatisfaction with these tactics.

Last Wednesday, actress Shkran Mortaja announced the closure of her accounts on "Facebook" and "X" due to a significant controversy stirred by a segment discussing the political situation in Syria with her guest Saif Sbei, which critics considered "glorifying the Assad regime." Sbei had remarked, "Changing people in positions does not mean the fall of the regime or its transformation. We change individuals, but the approach remains the same," also noting that "what we experience today is a rare opportunity to express opinions, which we should seize before it closes again."

Bashar also warned that "reducing the Syrian society to one color is dangerous to the cohesion of the nation."

The director also criticized the Syrian Artists' Guild, deeming its decisions "capricious and non-transparent" regarding the dismissal of members and allowing them to work, referring to the actions taken by the union against several artists known for their support of former president Bashar al-Assad, such as Sulaf Fawakherji and her husband Wael Ramadan.
