Khaberni - The director of the Meteorological Department, Raed Rafid Al-Khatib stated that the autumn season starts in the last third of September and continues until the twenty-first of December, indicating that the early days of November show no signs of impactful weather conditions, as some fluctuations fade before reaching.
Al-Khatib explained in his talk to Eye FM radio that the rainfall last season did not exceed 40-45% of its normal average, which means it was a very weak season.
He added that the autumn season is supposed to contribute about 11% to the annual rainfall average, but so far, it has only achieved 1%.
He pointed out that the seasonal forecasts for November in the Levant region indicate lower than usual rates, considering this a negative indicator for the rainy season.
He called on citizens to implore God and hold the prayer for rain under all circumstances.
Al-Khatib also revealed a project being undertaken by the Ministry of Water aiming to achieve cloud seeding in Jordan, adding that the department has prepared a draft law to regulate weather forecasting work, to ensure the accuracy of forecasts and reduce economic losses resulting from inaccurate predictions.
Al-Khatib concluded his talk by emphasizing the importance of investing in meteorology, explaining that every dinar invested in meteorology reduces losses tenfold, considering that investing in meteorology is more important than investing in banks.
