An Iraqi leads 30 teenagers and children to suicide through a famous game

Khaberni - The Roblox game continues to stir controversy in Iraq, after just one week from its ban, security authorities revealed the involvement of an activist on the platform in severe murder crimes.

According to a statement from the Iraqi Interior Ministry, on Tuesday, a teenager was arrested who caused the suicide of 30 individuals after recruiting them on Roblox.

In this regard, Major General Mustafa al-Yasiri, Director of Human Trafficking, said that the involved person lured his victims for the purpose of harming themselves and writing their names in blood on their bodies.

The accused individual did not stop at luring his victims, but also incited them to violence, self-harm, suicide, and burning animals.

Investigations indicate that the accused entrapped his 30 victims from various Arab and foreign countries, with the last of them being an Iraqi teenage girl he pushed towards suicide, who killed herself obeying his commands.

The security authorities have emphasized the importance of monitoring children and youth while they browse social media and preventing them from using these highly dangerous games.

The Iraqi authorities banned the Roblox platform on October 20th (current month), due to its content containing sexual innuendos, profane language, and violations, as well as exposing children and adolescents to instances of electronic extortion, according to an official statement.

The statement added that in order to protect community security, preserve moral and educational values for families and children, and maintain the safety of internet service users in Iraq, the Ministry announces the ban of the "Roblox" game inside the country based on the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court.

According to the statement, the game includes a number of security, social, and behavioral risks, among them enabling direct communication between users in a manner that exposes the category of children and adolescents to attempts of exploitation or electronic extortion and includes some game content that is inconsistent with Iraqi societal values and traditions.
