Khaberni - The Israeli occupying army said on Wednesday that a soldier was killed during "clashes" in southern Gaza Strip, at a time when Israeli aircraft launched strikes on targets in the sector following accusations that the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) had violated the ceasefire agreement.
Meanwhile, the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced early Wednesday that at least 30 Palestinians were martyred and dozens others were wounded in Israeli air raids targeting various parts of the sector on Tuesday.
The recent development is the latest test for the fragile agreement mediated earlier this month by U.S. President Donald Trump.
U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters aboard the presidential plane on Wednesday that the U.S.-backed ceasefire in the Gaza Strip "is not in jeopardy."
He added, "From what I understand, they killed an Israeli soldier... so the Israelis responded to the strike and they must respond to the strike. And when that happens, they must respond in kind."
Trump said, "Nothing will jeopardize the ceasefire... You have to understand Hamas is a very small part of peace in the Middle East, and they must comply."
