Khaberni - Jordanian director Mohammad Lotfi announced the start of filming for the thriller series "The Escape to the Well," which is one of the most anticipated works during the Ramadan drama season of 2026 due to its large production scale and the participation of a select group of Arab stars.
Filming will continue over the next two months in various locations across Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
The work belongs to the category of thriller dramas based on real events mixed with mystery and excitement, as it covers a series of incidents, some of which are derived from real stories, most notably the standoff at Sidnaya Prison in 2008.
The work gradually reveals secrets that were obscured for many years, raising sensitive questions about truth, justice, and deception in the Syrian reality.
Stars of the work
The series is penned by writer Samer Radwan in terms of script and dialogue, while Metaphora Company is handling the production, with Osama Al-Hamd as the executive producer and Mahmoud Shalash as the technical producer.
The starring cast includes a large number of prominent Arab artists, among them; Jamal Suliman, Nidal Najm, Carmen Lebbos, Oahe Al-Rahib, Abdel Rahman Quwaider, Nancy Khoury, and Jafra Younis.
The work also includes Abdel Hakim Qutaifan, Mazen Al-Natour, Nawar Bulbul, Qasim Malho, Shadi Al-Safdi, Ramzi Shekir, Khaled Shabat, Talal Mardini, Bassel Haider.
In a statement to local media, Jamal Suliman said the series does not document the moment of liberating the detainees and the subsequent events, but rather focuses on documenting the suffering of prisoners during the years of imprisonment, and what led some of them to execute the standoff at "Sidnaya" in 2008, especially since the work's writer completed it before the fall of the former Syrian regime.
Suliman pointed out that the recent events accompanying the fall of the prisons will remain fertile material that drama can address later in other works.
