Short Stature Football Team Wins West Asia Championship Title

Khaberni - Dr. Omar Hindawi, head of the Jordanian Paralympic Committee, crowned the top-ranking teams in the West Asian Football Union's tournament for short stature individuals, in a great celebratory atmosphere at the Sports Palace in the Al Hussein Youth City, amidst a large public attendance reflecting a spirit of pride and achievement with this historic title for Jordan.
The final match was also attended by Mr. Loay Al-Samadi, head of short stature sports at the Jordanian Paralympic Committee, who followed the final match's events and supported the national team players on their journey to victory, alongside several local and international figures.
The Jordanian short stature team won their first title in the tournament after a significant 5-2 victory over their Iraqi counterparts in the final match, continuing their outstanding performance by achieving a full score of four matches without any losses, thus proving their superiority and deserving the continental title hosted by the capital Amman.
The crowning came after an exceptional performance by the players throughout the tournament, where they displayed a high fighting spirit, distinctive tactical discipline, along with skill and decisive offensive touches, amidst significant public support that accompanied the team in all its matches.
The tournament saw the participation of four teams: Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria, organized under the patronage of His Highness Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the West Asian Football Federation for Development and the President of the West Asian Football Union, and supervised by the Jordanian Paralympic Committee, in cooperation with the Para Football Foundation, coinciding with the International Day of Short Stature.
In the match for the third place, the Syrian team secured the third place after defeating their Lebanese counterparts with a score of 1-0, while the tournament concluded with a deserved Jordanian crowning, confirming the national team's status as one of the prominent teams in the region in the short stature category.
The individual awards were distributed at the end of the tournament, where Ali Badur from the Jordanian team won the best player award, and Taqi Ghani from the Iraqi team received the top scorer title, while the best goalkeeper award went to Muhammad Matar from the Syrian team.
The closing ceremony included an exchange of shields between the Jordanian Paralympic Committee and the West Asian Union, represented by "Bana Al-Baytar", along with participation from "Sam Turner", founder of the "Para Football" foundation, in honoring the participants and supporting the initiative.
