Khaberni - The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, stated that the government has established a specific timeline to achieve its goals in the field of energy and gas exploitation, this includes achieving self-sufficiency in the production of high-octane gasoline.
Al-Sudani added today, Tuesday, that work is ongoing to achieve self-sufficiency in gas production through government projects, aiming for this result by the year 2028.
Additionally, Al-Sudani, during a meeting with the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy, James Patrick Danly, emphasized "the importance of fruitful partnership and cooperation between Iraq and the United States across various fields," according to the German news agency DPA.
The prime minister mentioned that the Iraqi government, through establishing political, economic, and social stability, has launched several projects, particularly in the field of energy which has brought significant positive changes to the country.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation with American energy companies in developing operations and training Iraqi personnel, and using the latest technological means to develop oil fields and produce electric power.
The U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy confirmed noticeable progress in areas of cooperation between both countries, especially in developing energy projects, explaining that the vision of the U.S. administration is based on enhancing partnership and investment to enable Iraq to achieve energy self-sufficiency and export surplus in the future.
