Khaberni - Investigative authorities referred the blogger Arwa Qassem to the Economic Court following accusations of insulting and defaming Yara Tamer, the ex-wife of the festivals singer Muslim, via social media.
Yara Tamer, the ex-wife of the festivals singer Muslim, filed an official complaint accusing the blogger Arwa Qassem of offending and defaming her, asserting that the accused used her accounts on "Instagram" and "TikTok" to share videos that included derogatory phrases and implications that harmed her reputation and caused significant psychological and moral harm.
The referral order issued by the investigative authorities states that the technical examination conducted by the IT department revealed that the electronic accounts used in the incident are linked to the accused Arwa Qassem, as confirmed by the field and technical investigations. The investigations also demonstrated that these actions constitute crimes punishable according to Articles 166 repeated, 171, and 308 repeated of the Penal Code, and Articles 5, 6, and 70 of the Telecommunications Regulation Law No. 10 of 2003, and Article 25 of the Information Technology Crimes Act No. 175 of 2018.
The memo from the investigative authorities indicated that the incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Economic Court, based on the circular letter No. 26 of 2008 issued by the Attorney General regarding the application of the provisions of the Economic Courts Law, and decided based on this to refer the accused to an economic criminal trial with the charges described in the referral order.
The lawyer Abdullah Mansour, representing the blogger Arwa Qassem, had submitted a legal memorandum in front of the investigative authorities in the first section of Nasr City, against Yara Tamer, the ex-wife of the singer Muslim, in which he accused her of committing the crimes of insult, defamation, public defamation, and offending his client through publishing videos, posts, and messages on social media platforms.
