Khaberni - Mazen Al-Qadi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, stated that the royal speech inaugurating His Majesty King Abdullah II's second ordinary session of the National Assembly contained essential themes that outline the next phase, supporting the journey of building, development, and comprehensive modernization.
Al-Qadi's remarks came on Tuesday when he chaired the first meeting of the permanent office, during which, on behalf of the office and all members of the House of Representatives, he expressed pride and esteem to His Majesty King Abdullah II, and thanks and appreciation for His Majesty's gracious inauguration of the House's second ordinary session and delivering the royal speech.
The permanent office decided to name members for the committee to respond to the royal speech based on the recommendations of the parliamentary blocs, in preparation for the Council's approval of the text and its submission to His Majesty. The Council also discussed its priorities for the next phase, aiming to provide parliamentary work that meets the aspirations of Jordanians.
The meeting was attended by: the first deputy speaker of the council Dr. Khamees Atiyya, the second deputy speaker Ibrahim Al-Sarayrah, and the council president’s assistants Hala Al-Jarrah and Maysoun Al-Qawabah.
Additionally, the Speaker of the House met with the heads and representatives of the parliamentary blocs, emphasizing the importance of enhancing programmatic bloc work.
Al-Qadi stated that the council faces a huge responsibility to work according to the royal speech's contents, to follow up on what has been accomplished in the political modernization path, and to enhance parliamentary partisan work dedicated to serving the nation.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached among the heads of the parliamentary blocs on nominating members for the parliamentary committees from each bloc, to proceed by consensus and ensure representation for the independent deputies.
The heads of the blocs during the meeting emphasized the enhancement of programmatic work and the improvement of operations to reflect the royal speech’s contents and meet the citizens' aspirations.
