Khaberni - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that he will consult with the security establishment regarding Israel’s response to the "violations" by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), following a dispute over the identity of a detainee whose remains were handed over by the movement.
Tel Aviv said on Tuesday that the remains of the detainee returned by Hamas on Monday belong to a detainee whose body the army had previously retrieved about two years ago in a military operation.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office stated, "After completing the process of identifying the body this morning, it was revealed that the remains of the late hostage Ofer Tsarfati, who had been retrieved from the Gaza Strip in a military operation about two years ago, were returned last night."
The statement noted that "this constitutes a clear violation of the agreement" by Hamas, and that Netanyahu will hold a meeting with the leaders of the security agencies "during which they will discuss the steps Israel will take in response to these violations."
