Khaberni - In his first comment after the final decision issued by the Istanbul Court of Appeals, Turkish actor Ozan Güven broke his silence, asserting his innocence of the charge of assaulting his former girlfriend Deniz Bulutsuz, which pursued him in the courts for more than five years.
During a controversial press conference, Güven appeared composed as he said: "I never raised my hand to her, I never slapped her, nor even hinted at doing so. Everything said about me is untrue." He added that he lived "the hardest years of his life" because of the case, which he described as a smear campaign targeting his reputation.
The well-known Turkish actor sharply criticized the narrative presented by Bulutsuz, pointing out that it included exaggerated accusations such as confining her inside the house and throwing her down the stairs. He said mockingly, "If that really happened, would she have walked out of there so easily?"
Despite being officially convicted, Güven maintained his stance, saying: "I will not apologize to her, because I didn't do anything. However, I am willing to apologize to every woman who thought I behaved inappropriately towards her."
The artist clarified that the incident he was convicted for involved his attempt to prevent Bulutsuz from using a "lampshade" in a way that could harm her, considering that what happened cannot be classified as violence.
According to the court's decision, Ozan Güven will serve a prison sentence of two years and three months, spending 45 days in an open prison under the parole system. Thus, the case that occupied Turkish public opinion for five years is concluded.
