Khaberni - The Internal Security Command in Syria, in collaboration with the counter-terrorism branch, announced the arrest of Nayef Saleh Dirgham, who previously held the position of Military Prosecutor General during the reign of the previous regime.
The Syrian Ministry of Interior stated through its official channel on the "Telegram" app that the arrest came after "precise monitoring and continuous observation", noting that Dirgham originates from the village of al-Shamiyah in the northern Latakia countryside, and is accused of "committing serious violations against civilians" during his tenure in high security and judicial positions.
The head of internal security in Latakia, Brigadier General Abdul Aziz al-Ahmad, said that Dirgham was one of the personalities who held sensitive positions in state institutions, explaining that during that period he "supervised military and field courts" that dealt with state security cases.
Al-Ahmad added that the detainee was referred to the competent authorities to complete the investigations, in preparation for presenting him to the competent judiciary and taking legal actions against him, according to the established norms.
The Syrian authorities have not released more details about the circumstances of the arrest or the nature of the charges directed at Dirgham.
