Interior Minister and Director of Public Security attend the launch of the Yes to Life No to Drugs campaign in a friendly m

Today, Mazen Al-Faraya, the Minister of Interior, sponsored the activities of the national awareness campaign under the slogan "Yes to Life... No to Drugs", which was launched by the Directorate of Public Security at Yarmouk University, attended by the Director of Public Security Major General Dr. Obeidallah Al-Maaytah, the university president Dr. Malek Al-Sharairi and the governor of Irbid Radwan Al-Atoum.

The campaign aims to enhance community awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and prevention methods, as part of a comprehensive, participatory national vision that includes official, academic, and youth institutions, with a special focus on university students and youth, as they are most capable of enacting positive change in society.

The Minister of Interior, in a speech during the ceremony, affirmed that combating drugs is a shared national responsibility that not only relies on security efforts but also complements the roles of family, schools, universities, and media in protecting society and immunizing youth against this perilous menace.

Al-Faraya expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Directorate of Public Security for its significant efforts in combating drugs through security enforcement against dealers and implementing awareness, prevention, and treatment programs. He also valued the role of Yarmouk University in hosting this event, underscoring the importance of the universities' awareness role in building an informed generation capable of saying: “Yes to Life... No to Drugs”.

On his part, the Director of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Brigadier Hassan Al-Qudah, stated that the directorate continues its efforts to protect society from this menace through an integrated strategy that includes security, awareness, and treatment aspects, noting that tackling drugs is a collective responsibility that requires community awareness and the collaboration of all national efforts.

Dr. Al-Sharairi, the president of Yarmouk University, expressed the university's pride in hosting this event and being the chosen venue for the launch of this national campaign, which embodies the effective partnership between security and academic institutions to serve the community, praising the role of university students in promoting the culture of awareness and commitment, and supporting national efforts in drug prevention.

The ceremony included a friendly match that brought together former and current national team players, held in a lively and sporty spirit, conveying a youth-driven message that sports are a way to life... not to drugs.

The event also featured an outdoor awareness exhibition staged in the university’s grounds, displaying visual materials and educational publications about the dangers of drugs and prevention methods, alongside showcasing stories and successful experiences in treatment and rehabilitation.

The ceremony was attended by senior officers from the Public Security Directorate, administrative officials in the Irbid governorate, representatives from official and community institutions, members of local security councils, and a large contingent of Yarmouk University and school students.

The awareness campaign will continue for two weeks, focusing its activities and events on the youth demographic to promote life values and awareness about the dangers of drugs and their impact on individuals and society.
