Khaberni - Minister of Religious Affairs, Mohammed Khalayleh, said on Monday that the number of those registered for the Hajj season of the year 1447 Hijri (2026) via the electronic Hajj portal, with the initial registration period ending on Sunday evening, reached 27,709 citizens.

Khalayleh added to "Al-Mamlaka" channel that the quota allocated for Jordanian pilgrims is 8,000 pilgrims, in addition to 4,500 pilgrims from the Muslims of '48. He pointed out that the ministry is in the process of finalizing its preparations for the Hajj season.

Khalayleh confirmed that the ministry will announce the names of the pilgrims who meet the selection criteria in the coming months, explaining that the selection of pilgrims will be based on the criteria of age (older age) and lottery, with the goal of diversifying the Jordanian Hajj mission between the old and the young.

Khalayleh clarified that the group to be selected according to the lottery standard will include those registered on the electronic Hajj portal born on or before December 31, 1980, who have not previously performed the Hajj.

Khalayleh also confirmed that there will be no extension of the initial registration for this year's Hajj season, indicating that the announcement of the names of those accepted to perform the pilgrimage will be made after the arrangements for the upcoming Hajj season are completed.

It is noted that the Ministry of Religious Affairs announced the start of initial registration for those wishing to perform the Hajj for the 1447 Hijri (2026) season on November 5, which continued for 22 days until 9 PM on Sunday, December 26.
