Khaberni - A moment of childhood turned into a tragedy in the city of Aleppo, when a child not older than three years lost his life after a pomegranate seed got stuck in his airway, leaving behind shock and grief among the neighborhood’s residents.
The "Al-Watan Online" quoted Dr. Fahd Muskoon, who tried to save the child upon his arrival at the hospital, saying that the child arrived with a blue face, after a pomegranate seed got stuck in his airway, leading to suffocation.
The doctor added that all his attempts to save the child failed, due to the long time that had passed since the airway was blocked, as the child's body arrived cold and blue, making all resuscitation attempts unsuccessful in saving him.
The details of the incident showed that the child's mother wanted to give the pomegranate to her son, but she left him alone and went to the bathroom, and soon returned to find him lying on the ground blue from suffocation.
Dr. Fahd Muskoon stated that children eating alone poses a risk to their lives, especially if they consume fruit like pomegranate, adding that if the child had reached the hospital in time, it might have been possible to save him before he passed away.
