Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday the killing of two soldiers of the Syrian army by unknown gunmen near the city of Al-Bab, east of Aleppo province, in the latest attack targeting army forces in the north of the country.
The official Syrian news agency "SANA" quoted the Department of Media and Communication at the ministry saying that "unknown attackers targeted two soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army in a treacherous and cowardly assault," indicating that the competent authorities have begun an investigation to identify the perpetrators.
The incident comes amid efforts by the Syrian government to restore stability to the northern regions, following about a year since the ousting of the deposed president Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, which ended his 24-year rule.
Since then, Syrian security forces have arrested many officers, militia leaders, and former officials involved in crimes against Syrians.
