Khaberni - Los Angeles authorities confirmed the death of Filipino-American TikTok star Iman Atienza, who committed suicide in her home at the age of 19.
According to documents from the Los Angeles County coroner's office, the incident occurred on October 22, 2025, while her real name was Emmanuel Atienza.
The deceased young woman courageously shared with her followers the details of her long battle with bipolar disorder, suicidal thoughts, and bullying, saying in a previous post on Instagram that her desire to end her life was "resistant to treatment," and that she had been battling these disorders since the age of 12, according to the British newspaper Mirror.
Influential Star and a Source of Inspiration
Atienza gained widespread fame on social media, with over 856,000 followers on TikTok along with about 50 million likes, as well as more than 218,000 followers on Instagram.
Her candor about mental health helped many of her followers feel supported and strong, and less alone, despite sometimes facing attacks and criticism for her progressive social and political stances in the Philippines.
Her mother Feliciano said in a heartfelt statement: "Iman made everyone feel seen and heard. We will continue to honor her memory with compassion, courage, and a lot of kindness."
Her father, well-known Filipino journalist Kim Atienza, also praised her in his eulogy, commending her bravery and her positive impact on the lives of others.
Messages of solidarity and condolence have poured in from stars and followers around the world, including Filipino actress Andrea Brillantes who described her as a "ray of sunshine." Sparkle GMA Artist Center also mourned her passing, affirming that she will always be a beloved part of the artistic family.

Iman belonged to a well-known political family in the Philippines, as she was the granddaughter of former Manila mayor Lito Atienza, adding an additional layer of interest and shock to her passing in her home country.
